Oooh, I know I've been a bad blogger, a non-blogging blogger. Naughty, neglectful me! Why have I been so remiss? I've been up to my eyeballs (poor, tired, sore eyeballs) in online census records, ferreting about looking for my ancestors. I've found lots of them. I found a branch of the family who spent at least a couple of centuries as agricultural labourers in Dorset - where Thomas Hardy's novels are set. In fact, my great grandma could almost have been Tess of the D'Urbervilles. Fascinating (to me if to nobody else).

Anyway, here I am. Although I haven't posted any book reviews recently, I've still been reading - ok, so only on the bus on the way home from work, but that's better than nothing. I read The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, and loved it. A compelling and unusual love story, very well written and clever too. I didn't want it to end - maybe why I took so long over it. I was so reluctant to say goodbye to Henry and Clare.
Then I read Aberystwyth Mon Amour by Malcolm Pryce. This is a spoof on the Raymond Chandler style of crime novel, but set in Aberystwyth. I found it amusing and quite entertaining - but it wasn't really my kind of novel. Bit too silly. It was recommended (and lent) to me by Diane, who absolutely adored it. She's generally got very good taste in books, so give it a go.
And yesterday I started on Timbuktu by Paul Auster, lent to me by Gav. I'll let you know, but so far so good.

On the subject of books, check our Book Crossing. Its all about sharing books - you read it, register it on the website, then leave it somewhere for someone else to pick up and enjoy. You stick a label in it with it's own special registration number. Hopefully, the person who picks it up will check out the website, register that they've read it, then leave it somewhere else. I just signed up - so I will be leaving my books around the city of Leeds for others to enjoy. Happy reading!!
